B u r o w is a complete and discrete homeworking furniture solution designed for homeworkers who do not have a dedicated home office - a mid-century inspired high-board that sits discretely in any room, with a 400mm depth.
Open B u r o w’s doors on your working day to access a standing desk or a generous sitting desk. Both include access to USB / 3-pin power and the option of a flat-screen monitor. Available storage for your laptop and work materials includes two drawers, a bookshelf, and two hidden storage compartments. The open doors provide privacy screening while working while allowing natural light and fresh air to pass through.
Who is this for?
Around 36% of workers work at home post-pandemic (ONS, 2024). For those without a dedicated home office, poor ergonomics, conflict with family time, poor environment, and inability to separate home from work can lead to physical and psycho-social issues.
Using the Design Council's Double-Diamond methodology, this project aimed to design a home-working solution for those in the service industries without a dedicated home office. The core design principles were practical Circular Economy, affordable sustainability, humanity-centred design, and monetizability. However, research shows that for the largely European SME furniture manufacturers, the adoption of sustainable materials and circular economy principles has been challenging due to cost and embedded attitudes and processes.

Sustainability is not just a feature of B u r o w, it's at the very core of its design. B u r o w is built with British-certified ash from Greater London, sourced via Fallen & Felled, and Scottish-manufactured ash veneer board. The interior is available in natural wood or can come in a calming green or concentrating blue. The material on the doors can be printed with any design – subject to copyright. Designed for longevity and replacement parts, B u r o w is a testament to circular economy principles, ensuring your workspace is as sustainable as it is stylish.
