Izumi

Izumi is a lamp designed to promote wellness at home by encouraging users to disengage from their day-to-day activities through interaction. This interactive lamp allows users to create unique, personalised designs by customising the central base with different sliding wooden pieces. This puzzle-like activity not only provides a moment of mindful engagement but also offers light therapy benefits. The primary aim of Izumi was to create an unconventional lighting system for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

The Future of this Product

Moving away from the clinical and therapeutic designs currently available, the research focused on integrating an interactive approach. The aesthetics of Izumi blend Japanese woodworking and joinery techniques with the fundamental forms of the Bauhaus movement, ensuring accessible manufacturing and a visually appealing product.
